‘It takes a village to raise a child’

Whether it is your first or fifth baby, the postnatal period -the fourth trimester- is a time of huge transition for you, your body and your whole family.

Sadly, in our fast paced western society, family and friends often live too far away or are too busy to be on hand to help. But this is where someone like me, as a postnatal doula, can step in.

‘Mothering the mother’ is at the heart of doula practice, meaning that you get the chance to recover physically and emotionally, while being well nourished, rested and given ample time to bond with your baby.  Postnatal doulas offer practical, emotional, physical and informational care to mother and family in whichever way is most needed on any given day.

As I am also a holistic infant sleep coach, I believe it is never too early to learn how to recognise sleepy cues, wake-windows and optimise day naps and night sleep- and all while being gentle and promoting secure parent-infant attachment. In this way chronic sleep deprivation can be kept at bay, allowing you to enjoy early parenthood to the full.
